My Mission Field
My mission field is one
Lord, help me do my job til done
I can love and work and pray
Til the dawning of a new day
Others may go to a far off land
Where they gather souls like sand
My mission field is one
May I stay on earth til that one is won
We will meet in heaven one day
Where we'll have much fun and play
It will be worth it all when we get to heaven at last
And I know for sure we'll have a great big blast
Love, Grandma
(Inspired by Tyler. This is the first poem I ever wrote.)
BMX Champion
I used to watch a great BMX champion,
winner of all the races
He used to go all over the countryside
and beat people in different places
He traveled from one state to another
and showed them all
he was the fastest and the best
and as the winner, he stood 10 feet tall
He always strived to be the best
to be victorious and to win
and even took a few tumbles
and scraped up his skin
But he never gave up,
he had to be the first to the finish line
That was his goal in life,
as he always thought "the trophy will be mine."
(In memory of my son, Tom, being the state champion BMX bike racer)
Birthday parties, Jim
I have a son-in-law who is
a Peters through and through
When it comes to birthday parties,
he'll always be there for you
He has to teach his children too
to understand the importance of such things
When someone has a birthday,
you get out the whistles and balloon strings
It really does not matter how old you are
if it is your birthday, you're going to be the star

A Boy Named Joey
There is a little boy named Joey
He likes to play outside when snowy
He will make a big snowman
But only if his daddy says he can
He likes to throw a ball
But never in the mall
He can run as fast as lightening
And sometimes can be quite frightening
He races with his dad
And even makes him mad
Because he is so fast
And his daddy comes in last
He likes to be the best
And always pass the test
He learned that from his mommy
When he was inside her tummy
He likes to ride his bike
And sometimes go on a hike
He likes to play with trains
Especially when it rains
He likes to play at the park
But never after dark
So if you never met this real sweet boy
You are missing quite a great big joy
But when all is said and done
All I can say is he's a wonderful grandson
And after we've had our games and play
We'll both be together in heaven someday
Love, Grandma
Goin to Leave This World Someday
I'm goin leave this world someday
Goin go to my home in heaven far away
I want my loved ones to be there with me
We'll be singing and rejoicing as happy as can be
Ain't coming come back to this old world, no way
Goin be there in my home to stay
I'll be waiting for my kids and grandkids to meet me there
There will be a grand reunion in that land so fair
We'll be set free from all sinning and strife
There we'll just be having a great old time in life
We'll be loving each other with no trouble ever brewing
With the joy down in our hearts and our love renewing
Hallulejuh, Hallulejuh, we'll be set free
Yes, we'll be set free for all eternity

Son and Daughter-In-Law Appreciation
My son and daughther-in-law are so thoughtful and kind always
Even though they are so busy with their jobs and other relatives
they still find the time to brighten up many of my days
I love my son and daughter, they mean so much to me
We always have great times together going out to eat
and sometimes just watching a homemade fireworks movie
Whenever I see my son and daughter-in-law is always a great day
They bring such joy and happiness to my life
I hope they understand the love I'm trying to convey
My son and daughter-in-law are the best I ever had
and when I see them it makes me so glad

Daughter and Son-In-Law Appreciation
My daughter and son-in-law are so thoughtful, kind and sweet
When they know I’m sick they bring me good food to eat
I’m always so glad and happy when I see them at the door
We have such a great time together and it is never a bore
I feel kind of sad when they say "we got to go."
Wish they could stay all day and I could watch the kids’ show
It blesses my heart to hear my grandchildren sing their Jesus song
And I always pray that to him they will belong
I love to see my daughter and son and grandkids too
If I didn’t have them in my family I don’t know what I’d do

Grandboys Tyler and Wyatt
Daughter Appreciation
My daughter, Jennifer, is the one you can always count on to do
All your Christmas shopping and gift selecting for you
She knows the perfect gift at the right store and price
And likes to help out her family with her shopping skills to be nice
I appreciate my daughter for all the great shopping she has done
It was a big help to all of us and she seemed to be having a lot of fun
I would say she is probably the best shopper I’ve ever known
And when getting close to Christmas, her shopping is full blown
I love to see my daughter, Jennifer, and her little boy, Tyler, too
They mean so much and cheer me up when I’m a little blue
